What to Expect?

Rivertree is a church plant in Jackson, Michigan. We started in 2007 with a vision to connect with people who weren’t being reached by more traditional church settings. Rivertree began life in the basement of a local family and since then we’ve grown to our current location at 3113 Lansing Avenue (the old Elks lodge for those of you who know Jackson). Our mission is to Love Recklessly, Live Passionately and Serve Selflessly. We are a church with the Wesleyan denomination. You can find out more about what we believe here.

At Rivertree, we hold serving our community at our core. We partner with many local organizations including Energizing Education, the Hot Air Jubilee, the Together We Can Make a Difference House and the Resale Depot.  We also believe in being actively involved in our world, sending mission teams to West Virginia, Haiti, Jamaica,
Costa Rica,
Belize and Cuba.

We also want you to know we value living and worshipping authentically. Don’t feel like you have to put on a “church face” to come on Sunday mornings. We are imperfect people too. But our God loves all and we are excited to share His love with you! No matter what your circumstances are, you will be loved here.

We value all of today’s families in their many, many forms. We welcome you regardless of what your past looks like. We want you to feel at home here. We want to connect with you and live authentically together.

Welcome to Rivertree.

Are you thinking about visiting Rivertree? Great! Rivertree is an exciting place to meet authentic, imperfect people who want to learn about God and worship Him with others, regardless of where you are on your faith journey.

We know that it can be hard to go into an unfamiliar grocery store, much less a church - whether you grew up in a church or you’ve never been before. To help you with some of those first time jitters we have compiled some simple first time info:

Times
We have two identical Gatherings on Sunday mornings at 9 am & 10:30 am. Both have the same awesome music and a Children’s Ministry available at 10:30 am.

Here’s a few tips for coming to Rivertree:

  • Wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. Many people will be in jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. Some may dress up a bit. The key: be yourself. We want to see whatever is the real, everyday version of you.

  • If you have a bible, you might want to bring it. If not, no worries. There are bibles available to use, and if you’d like one for home, you can even take one with you. We believe the bible is the word of God and that it is important to interact with it.

  • We don’t pass around a plate. We give people the opportunity to become financial partners with us through tithes and offerings, and these can be placed in the giving box in the back of the Gathering area. But we won’t shake you down or make you feel guilty – we are excited about you, not your money.

  • There are refreshments available. It’s not Jackson Coffee Company or Café Lilla, but help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea and a little bite to eat. No one will be offended if you’re singing with a cookie in your mouth.
